Privacy Policy
Great Britain Network User Group ((GB)NUG)
Effective date: 29 June 2026
1. Who We Are
The Great Britain Network User Group (GB)NUG is a practitioner-led community for
enterprise network architects, engineers, and operational leaders based in Great Britain.
(GB)NUG is not a commercial entity. It is run by and for practitioners, with events facilitated
and funded by industry organisations acting as sponsors or partners (referred to in this policy
as “facilitators”). The list of facilitators may change over time.
2. Why We Collect Personal Data
(GB)NUG collects only the personal data necessary to manage community membership and
event logistics. We do not use your data for marketing, sales, or any commercial purpose.
Specifically, your data may be used to:
• Confirm your registration for (GB)NUG events
• Send you practical information about upcoming events (e.g. venue, agenda, joining
details)
• Manage waiting lists or capacity for events
Facilitators may contact you on behalf of (GB)NUG strictly for the purposes above. They will
not contact you for any other reason, including to promote their own products or services,
without obtaining separate consent from you directly.
3. What Data We Collect
Depending on how you register, we may collect some or all of the following:
• Full name
• Email address
• Job title
• Company or organisation name
• Country
We do not collect any sensitive personal data (such as health information, political opinions,
or financial details).
4. Legal Basis for Processing
(GB)NUG processes your personal data on the basis of
Legitimate interests – it is in the legitimate interests of (GB)NUG and its members to
communicate event logistics to registered attendees. We have assessed that this interest is
not outweighed by your rights or privacy interests, given the strictly limited and non-
commercial nature of the communications.
5. How Your Data Is Collected
(GB)NUG uses third-party platforms to manage registrations. Currently, these are:
• Meetup.com – Meetup Privacy Policy
• LinkedIn – LinkedIn Privacy Policy
These platforms process your data under their own privacy policies and terms of service.
(GB)NUG does not control how these platforms store or secure your data on their systems.
We encourage you to review their policies before registering.
Where (GB)NUG facilitators access registration data (for example, to send event logistics),
they do so only as necessary and in accordance with this policy.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary to manage your participation in
(GB)NUG events. Typically, this means your data is held for the duration of your
membership of the (GB)NUG community. If you request removal, your data will be deleted
promptly (see Section 8).
7. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Your data may be shared with:
• Current (GB)NUG facilitators, solely for the purpose of event logistics and community
management
• Third-party registration platforms (Meetup, LinkedIn), as described in Section 5
We do not transfer your data outside of the UK or EEA except where the platforms listed
above operate internationally, in which case transfers are subject to those platforms’ own
safeguards and policies.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to processing of your data
• Withdraw from the (GB)NUG community at any time
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 9. We will
respond within 30 days.
9. How to Contact Us
For any questions about this privacy policy, or to exercise your data rights, please contact
(GB)NUG through one of the following channels:
• LinkedIn: Send a message to the (GB)NUG LinkedIn Page via LinkedIn Messaging
• Meetup: Send a direct message to the (GB)NUG group organiser via Meetup.com
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on the (GB)NUG
website at (GB)NUG.com and, where appropriate, communicated to members via our
registration platforms. The effective date at the top of this document will reflect the date of
the latest revision.
